I am a natural born canner, or so it seems. I woke up one day and thought, "I'd like to make some blueberry jam." That thought spiraled and took over. Every waking moment in my head is now consumed with thoughts of jams, jellies, pickles, beets, butters, preserves, relishes and chutneys. I have been seduced into the great abyss of home canning by its joyous rewards of my house smelling more delightful than words can even express, seeing my family and friends thrilled with their homemade creations as well as the final product - custom labels and all - a beautifully sweet, sometimes savory, creation that I can claim as my very own.
In the other "off" hours when I'm not in the kitchen, I teach high school and college Business classes. Quite the contrast to my real passion - but it pays the bills. For now.
